    Default Orange rant....

    Hi,

I have been a 'long' serving customer to Orange (4+ years) and lately, I am finding myself increasingly disappointed with the signal/reception. I have now phoned 3 times about the same complaint, first time they changed the handset (SE C902) - yet the problem still lives on.

I seem to get 4/5 messages a day informing me of a missed call, but didnt leave a message - when the phone doesnt ring (and has signal as its on my desk at work)! Also seems a delay sometimes on incoming text messages..

I know it doesnt really sound bad, but it is annoying..

Todays phone call, the customer service operator told me if I want to cancel now I can, but they want £417.00 for an early contract termination, so I declinded his kind offer!

Would any other providers (probably Vodafone as I think they're the best, and our work phones always have full signal etcc..) contribute towards the termination cost of Orange, if I was to sign say a 2yr contract with them - or is it totally out of the question?

Lastly, does anyone else have problems with Orange? I'm in Widnes (WA8) and they tell me all their masts are working to full capacity etc....

I'm also on Orange but thankfully have just entered my 30 notice notice period so will be free in a month. I've had many problems with signal/reception like yourself. I live in Minera just outside Wrexham and work in Ellesmere Port and have had reception problems in both those area's.

Glad to finally be getting away from them.

I was with Orange for years but I found the signal seemed to be getting worse and their costs were getting greater (but what really annoyed me was their insistance that I could only take a minimum of an 18-month contract if I renewed).

I've swopped to a 30-day SIM only contract with O2 but unlike big rich astra I've actually found the signal much stronger?!

I have sent an email off to Vodafone asking if I was to join a 2yr contract with them, would they contribute any money towards my Orange cancellation..

I've also got the SE C902 phone to sell for say £150 so in the unlikely event that Vodafone offer some money, that would go towards the cost...

tbh all you need to do is request a new sim, its a known problem and I'm suprised they haven't offered it

It is one of those things really, you got to look at the Network operators map of coverage for the areas you mainly use. I used to visit a place on the west of Scotland by Helensburgh called Cove. In this quaint little village the only network you could get a signal for was Vodaphone but you went 3 mile down the road and the only network you couldnt get was Vodaphone. So no single network is going to suit all.

I have been with all the networks at one time or other and found Voda and O2 to be best, but due to incentives (free broadband) i've now been with Orange for many years with no issues (as long as you don't need to call Customer Services) and even upgrades have gone okay (just tell them you want to cancell and go elsewhere and they'll do a deal) Last upgrade i did i got HTC Tytan2 free (they wanted £150 to start with) and they put a 'web save' on my account which reduced my bill by £5 a month.

    Horses for courses me thinks.

Missus has an Orange phone as part of our broadband deal too. Mine is A works Vodaphone. More or less identical coverage for both of them whether in the UK or when travelling in Europe.

Also noticed last week on the ferry to the IOM my personal Orange Nokia PAYG picked up the Manx network on the ferry about 10 minutes before my brothers Samsung did which is on the same network.
