    Default Wheel balancing rant

So I had four new tyres fitted and balanced last Saturday, a 20 mile round trip. Done about 100 miles since then and noticed slight shimmy through the steering wheel. Got to be balance me thinks.

So go back to tyre place today and the fitter (same one as Saturday) says he'll check the balance.

    Wait for it...................

    Front o/s 10gm out
    Front n/s 5 gm out
    Rear n/s OK
    Rear o/s 15 gm out

When asked why this should be, his answer was "some tyres and cars are like this, they need to settle down" . Well he didn't tell me this last Saturday.

So the long and the short of it is - another unecessary 20 mile trip and 1.5 hours of my life wasted through someone else's incompetence.

Why can't people get it right first time, every time? God how I hate numptys!!!!

    !!!!

When I had new tyres a couple of months ago I had a similar experience, but just on the fronts, also they dont seem to line up the tyre weight paint marks in line with the valve these days either, so you often end up having larger size weights than they would otherwise have needed had the tyres been put on correctly, had mine re-balanced after I'd done about a 1000 miles and they have been fine since even at high speed. (70 max of course...lol)

At least they got it right second time. The place I used to go to for over 20 years gave up after three goes with my last Vec.. Luckily there is a legendary tyre place on the wirral who get it right first time every time. Otherwise we'd be goosed.
