Weird thing just happened?

after pulling away at a junction today the revs just kind of stuck on at 2k for a couple of seconds and didn't budge even with the throttle to the floor.... Then suddenly shot back to life. This happened twice during the space of a few minutes.
Now I'm fairly sure it's got something to do with the EGR being clogged up cos I've been getting occaisonal juddering as described by many other people suffering problems with the EGR.

Does it seem likely that it is related to the EGR, if so do you reckon a damn good clean out would do the trick?

Bought my 1.9cdti 150 a few weeks ago, 2005/54 with 141k miles on, and it was sluggish with poor throttle response, and just wouldn't pull below 2000rpm, took the egr out and it was almost completely blocked, spent a couple of hours cleaning it all out, and took the butterfly housing out and cleaned all that too, immediately ran loads better, a lot smoother and nice and quick, I think it should be part of the servicing schedule, I reckon a lot of the running problems that people have could be avoided by doing things like this

...clean the egr valve out....try the free things first before diagnostics etc etc
