Question Who is correct Lease Company v's Vauxhall?

Who is correct my lease company or Vauxhall?

Car just had 40K service - very early 13mths old.

Garage recommended by lease company (not Vaux dealer) replaced oil & filter, Pollen Filter only.

Vaux Service book says should also replace Air and Fuel filter at 4Yrs/40K miles, whatever occurs first. Lease company say, their service schedule says Air&Fuel filter doesn't need replaced, only a visual inspection.

    So, who is correct?

    Car is 2.2 Direct petrol.

Have to say VX, had the same prob a few years ago..

Lease firms often refuse or argue with dealer/garages over items, got to the point with Arval PHH, i changed the wiper blades and brake fluid myself plus others bits myself, as they always refused.
It did take a few strong words from our vehicle fleet manager to have the tyre changed as they wanted to put on the cheapest tyre (lease inc servicing, tyres, exhausts etc) on the shelf, with the load in the estate car near the limits a row started, they even refused to have the tracking done, so yu never got more than 7K out of them. Got michelens on in the end as they were £7 dearer.. go figure! opted for the money when it came to renew!. never again.

Who really cares? 40K for fuel and air filter is far too early anyway. Mines on 100k with both original and functioning fine.

At the end of the day, it is the lease company's car, and they pay for what they want to be done.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

under ecoflex servicing the parts required will vary depending on time as well as mileage so a car doing the mileage before time will get different parts to a car getting service to time rather than mileage,it was a pain in the a** when a technician asked for the service parts but nothing was set up on the system, thankfully i dont have this problem in my currant job

Actually, 40k is about right for a fuel filter and 20k for air filter IMHO.

Ste, you're a skinflint. I'm guessing you'd never replace anything if you could get away with it?

I understand that you may not care, but I think you missing the point, Jaffatubes has asked for some advise, so he cares. I understand perhaps from your experience this maybe a little soon, we are reminded often by stealers to adhere to the service schedule. or maybe it was in reply to my repsonse, again, just pointing out my experience, and lease firms do have the final say, but its us that have to drive the vehicle as we are also legally responsible for its roadworthyness (not sure if there is such a word) and its our safety in the end.

Good point there. I care about my car and it doesn't bother me changing these things when they are due. I'm an engineer and understand the importance of oil changes etc, but if it looks dirty, I'd change the air filter every year for the sake of a tenner

Ah, but think of the things you could do with that £16 you've saved by not replacing a consumable item twice. You could buy...oooh...200 packets of Tesco Instant Noodles...160 10p mixups...quarter of a tank of petrol...the list goes on!
