Oil prices per barrel have now come down ,with the petrol prices subsequently coming down also .
Why ,then hasen't the price of oil that you put in your engine as lubricant been reduced accordingly ? Anyone got any thoughts on this ?![]()

I think the raw oil price is a very very small part of what we're actually paying for anyway, it being mostly full of synthetic chemicals ,engineering etc...
If you call a 4.5 litre can of oil £30-40 on average for anything decent, then to buy the same ammount of petrol would cost less than a fiver!
High added value, I think they call it. You would not believe the amount of money and time that goes into researching and developing lube oils. And if you think that's expensive, try buying upper cylinder lubricant for 2 stroke diesels - which gets burnt!
