Default Sound when going over hump

    Hi guys,
Just bought a 2 year old Vectra C sedan. Great Car!
One thing though, whenever it goes over hump, it makes a "grok grok" sound. Sound comes from the front & seems to be from suspension. Is this normal??

    Thanks,
    Realmworld

Yea apparently there is a problem on the C's with the suspension. I'm not sure just what it is and I've not had a problem myself (mines a 04 plate), I'm sure one of the guys will be along shortly to enlighten you. Whatever, if it's under warranty, get it back to them. Welcome to the site BTW.

Common fault and not dangerous so dont panic.

You have 1 of 2 faults.

    Symptom
    Knocking from front of car
    Fault
Radiator mounts worn or Front suspension fault caused by bad fitting spring ends.
    Fix.
Warranty fix available, either new radiator mounts or plastic end cap fitted to springs

Andy, at what point, if at all, have these issues been iradicated. What I mean is, was it from '53 plate on or '04 plate on etc. It's just that I have not (touch wood) had any of these problems. My car was registered on 23rd April 2004.

realmworld - if you bought your car through NetworkQ go to your local VX and have a word but you may have to push them a little. All this work should be done free and under warranty.

When mine started knocking I thought it was the suspension, but turned out to be the rad mounts.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the valuable input. Yes, it is still under warranty. I just needed to know some background & advice so I wouldn't get "smoke" by the mechanic

Mine did it from 18months old. Then again at 2 years old. Its been ok for the past 6 months.

There was a guy on vvoc who asked the same question as realm and his had 500 miles on the clock!!! so in theory, it can happen anytime and isnt something they have fixed at the production end yet.

My car has just started to do that too. Grunk Grunk going over Tesco's speed humps. Thought it was the suspension. I'll be booking mine in for a look. Only done 47,000 (Vectra Estate 2.0 DTi) so should be OK. The car is fine and makes no noise over "normal" pits etc, but going over speed humps at 5mph makes this terrible sound..
I'll keep you all posted... Though I am retisent to take it in until after the new year as they wont fix it in time and they'll give me an Tiny Astra as a Temp car...

P.S Merry Christmas to you all!
