Water In Facelift Auto Box

Just heard from the dealer that Vauxhall have authorised a new Auto box for my 2006 (facelift) 2.8T Elite due to water in the gearbox oil.

Now I know this was a problem on earlier auto boxes but i thought it had been cured before the 2006 facelift range.

I had to top up the rad with around a pint of water twice in the last 20,000 miles so I asked for a pressure test on the cooling system as the car has done just under 55K and this will be its last service under warranty, they did not want to do it. Anyway looks like my insistence has paid off.

Has anyone else heard of this problem on facelifts?

I thought I had that on my siggy but they changed them around 2006 and I had the revised cooling setup, you just may have been unlucky!

That was what I thought, there was a problem before the 2006 facelifts but this is the first I had heard about the later ones, anyway lucky its been found before the warranty ran out in less than 6000 miles which at the rate I'm going recently would only have been a few weeks.

How long its going to take is the next problem, no chance of the box arriving till at least Friday if they have one in stock at Luton, may need to come from Russelsheim.

Maybe a hire car from Vx like when they changed the engine in my 2.2 Vec B when it broke its timing chain for the 2nd time and destroyed the head and several pots.
