    Default Stolen Number Plates

Last week an acquaintance woke up to find the plates stolen from her BMW nothing else just the plates. She told the police, got replacements from Halfords. I reckon she should get it reregistered coz the plates have been nicked for a reason haven't they? The police just advised her to get new plates, is it just me?

They are probably on the same colour/model BMW somewhere else. Probably being sold to some unsuspecting customer.

I would be suspicious of any parking or speeding fines in the future. Some idiot got my plates copied from my works van (white renault traffic) and I received a speeding fine and asked for photographic proof and the pictures that came back had a blue toyota corolla with my reg on it!!

Heard a storey a short while back of some not so honest drivers were driving in and out of London (Congestion Charge) with false plates on then the real owner of the plates has to fight in court over the fines. Hasle Hasle Hasle.....

I think the police should be taking it a little more serious. I would urge you to tell the acquaintance to go back to the police and if nothing else obtain a crime number for the incident so you know it has been logged properly and atleast have something to fight with later (Speeding Fines, Congestion Charges, Bilking (Not Paying for Fuel)) etc....
