Default Pulled over by police-Weird outcome !!???!!

Hey Guy's and also the cop's out there....here's one for you.

Saturday night was driving back from Birthday Party with the family about 1am and about literally 2 minutes away from home, when suddenly I get the blue's and two's behind me.

Yep, copper's pulled me over (I was driving my dad's SRI).

Anyway, the copper comes over to me and ask's,

    "Is this your car"?

I say, "yes, well no its actually my dad's (who was sat next to me)".

He then asks my dad, "Whats your name sir"....dad responds.

    "Whats your address"? dad responds.

"OK guy's off you, have a nice day"!

    !

Any idea's anyone as to why they may have pulled me?

No other question's, no other check's, that all it was!

Shook me up a little and also the family as my little boy was with me too and it was 1am in the morning (middle of the night), and they didnt do anything (not that im complaining about this bit).

I was just speaking to a mate who said it's actually illegal for them to do that!

    Comments please!

Dad's in the mob, the cop was looking for the monthly payoff but as you were there the cop couldn't take the packet dad had for him, just as well he didn't ask to see dcos cos dad would've had to move the uzi in the glovebox to get to them.

Had probably already checked the details, insurance etc and was checking the details matched what your dad said or pulled you and the way your dad answered their questions was good enough for him to let yous bve on your way.

If my car was driving around at 1am in the morning, I'd like to Police to check who the driver was.

    Seems perfectly fine to me

    What harm can it do?

It's happened to me too, simply saying who owns the car and address etc gives them the info they need - ie you haven't nicked it.

No problem with me, Police can pull my car everytime it's out after midnight for a check.

I suppose that clears it up!

Only thing that puzzled me was that they could clearly see inside my car at one point as they were right up behind/beside me and could see the family, yet still pulled me!

Yep, but how are they to know who those people sat in the car actually are until they ask?

As above, it was probably just a routine check and they already had the details off the PNC and just wanted to make sure it tallied with replies given.

They may, and MLC etc. will be able to verify if this is normal procedure, have been stopping you and asking the basic questions just to see if they could smell any alcohol on you?

    1. It's not illegal. Tell your mate he needs a few more lawyer lessons.

    2. Plenty of scroats drive around at 1am with their kids in the car. They think it gives them less chance of being pulled after they've burgled a house or two.

    3. Normal check. Verify details, quick sniff of drivers breath. Off you go.
