    Default Temp gauge not reading

I don't know if any one else has had this fault but here goes.

When new, the car used to heat up to 90 degrees on the temp gauge within 2-3 miles.I can now do a round trip of 10 miles and the gauge hasn't moved. If i drive the car for long enough then the temp eventually starts to rise to say 70.

I feel that the thermostat is stuck in the open position. The car is under warranty so it will be going in this week but i just wondered if any one else had had this problem?

The car is a facelift 1.8 vvti.

    Hi,

From what you have said it sounds like it is well worth dropping into Vx and have it checked under warranty. Thermostat is only pennies but every little helps and there is always the chance it is a little more sinister.

Mine's done that since new - at least 7-8 miles before it warms up, more in the cold.

Mine takes about 7 miles to move as well. Dont think its a problem just the way its designed.

yup mine too, i posted a thread about the temp gauge a while back and was told it's just there way. I also asked a locall garage who told me it was nothing to worry about.

All of you replying have diesels.Mines a petrol. It used to heat up within 2-3 miles so i expect it to still do so.I still think the thermostat is the culprit.
