    Default 3.0 V6 CDTi upgrades?

    Hi guys just joined!

I have not long bought a late 2005 facelift SRI 3.0 V6 CDTi estate

Im loving the car but not quite impressed with the consumption, its not quite whats in the book!

Ive read somewhere there is a mod you can do to improve the MPG, however I dont want to effect the performance, I was thinking about a remap but am not liking the horror stories ive read on here.

I do a lot of miles so would like to gain a little more out of my tank if anybody can help.

    Chers

    Andy.

I have to agree, remap seems to be about the only modification this engine likes
Anything else and you can pretty much cut the life expectancy or start saving up for major repair work

You will have the Z30DT and from what I've read so far this engine doesn't like Remaps ... I also have a Z30DT and mine's totally standard and never had anything done to it an I wouldn't have either. Having said that it's still had a new Injector, EGR valve, Engine ECU update, fuel suction kit and is going in tomorrow for two new manifolds to cure sticking swirl flaps ... other than that it's a great engine (no seriously when it works it works well )

Many have tried and failed with boxes and remaps, which don't usually encourage economy driving.

Usually it's only a concerted effort to drive more economically that will make any difference.

Try asking your local friendly Vauxhall dealer if there are any software updates available.

That's a good point, I've read somewhere that there was one for the facelift

If its still under warranty, then risk going for a remap

Sorry good point ... I missed the topic of your original post! ... mine's no where near what the book says either and it seems to vary quite a bit what people get out of these cars.

My opinion is that the DPF fitted to the facelift dramatically reduces consumption figures and this is significantly compounded by lots of town driving forcing it to regen at low speeds. I also believe that DPF regen was never taken into account when calculating the official figures for the car.

For info I get around 32mpg long term average but that includes lots of town driving ... if I run a full tank purely at stop-start town driving speeds I get around 23mpg
