    Default Wheel Alignment

Hey all. Just a quick question. I've had some problems with my car regarding wheel alignment. I took it to kwik fit first who could only do the front two. I then looked for someone who could do all four, found Mconnechy's, but the problem is still there. At first the steering wheel was straight but the tracking was messed up and the car was moving to the left. Then the tracking was set up by Kwik fit and the tracking was good but the steering wheel was tilted to the right to go in a stright line. kwik-fit eventually found that the tyre on the back left pas side was toe out. Mconnechy's performed wheel alignment on four wheels for £45. Problem still there now the tracking is fine but the wheel is tilted to the right again to go straight. Arnold Crap are a con and refuse to look at it without £60 investigation fee. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Cheers!

Kwik Fit are useless when it comes to wheel alignment, as you've noticed they only do the front two
For a basic check, go to National Tyres Paisley
Check the Sunday newspapers there is sometimes a voucher for half price alignment check
I used to use Langside, but now use Kirkintilloch as their equipment is newer, but I am now looking for another outlet whose equipment is less than 4 years old

Once adjusted the Vectra never seems to need adjusting, my Vectra B was adjusted on its first tyre change and was fine for 4 years and 120K miles, this current Vectra has never needed adjusting

To find a place using top spec (Hunter) equipment then go here - www.alignmycar.co.uk - and you should get a full four wheel alignment done properly there.

You say you took it back to Kwik-fit for a 2nd visit & they diagnosed Pas side rear toe-out, But you said earlier that they couldn't do rear alignment ??? Majority of garages can only "do" front alignment with reference to rear. Its always assumed that the rear is "ok" To be honest, it is as most knocks happen to the front wheels. The reason that your steering wheel is wonky is that they adjusted the track-rod on 1 side only. Not many people appear to understand the basics of wheel alignment. They need to turn the wheel to "central" then re-adjust either side to get the tracking back to norm.

Following on from above, some places will try and tell you that you can't adjust rear camber on the Vectra C - that's twaddle basically.

Try Kenny Brown Engineering in Hillington, Glasgow. They mostly work on modded cars, lowered, rally etc. All i've heard is good things about them.
