40,000 mile service help

40,000 miles is a major service IIRC and that price is par for the course for a main dealer.

40k and no oil change?, that aint good! I would have had 4 oil changes by then! surely it would have had at least 1 or 2?
just had my 2nd annual service on my 06 1.8 and it was 175 quid. mind you I have to go back to get them to put the right oil in tomorrow!a major ( not interim ) service should be all the filters & brake fluid & plugs changed, and brakes discs/pads/shoeschecked and coolant checked, as well as the so called inspection .......if they bother........
Surely your brakes must be shot by now if youve done 40k on the same pads?

Pads that have been replaced in the past doesn't necesarilly mean it's been serviced though, even an owner who purposefully doesnt have it serviced because he's too tight can get pads changed because he fears for his safety.

19k on my original pads and there's loads of meat left on them. Should get 50k out of them no bother (I do 50 miles a day on the motorway and rarely touch the brakes).
