    Default Buying from main dealers

    Evening all,
Would be interested in your views about buying from main dealers, In sept i will be changing my 98 sri 140 for a GSI or SRI i have been on the network q website and you can value your px, mine comes up with £1500 to £1300 i will have a budget of 13k cash plus my px.
Now lets asume i see a 54 plate gsi 13k or 12k what would you expect to pay with my px, or if you buying with no px how much discount would you be looking for, the price of these cars seems to vary massively, parkers quote 14.7k for a 54 plate but ive seen loads well below this at main dealers, only last week a local vx dealer had a 54 gsi marked down was 15999 then 14999 now 13999 any help and advise would be appreciated
    Alan.

I think the drop in price can be put down to Vx dropping the specs on most models. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

Most dealers don't have a massive used car plot, so nearly all of their trade-ins go straight to the trade. So their hands are tied as to what they can offer you for yours.

Perhaps to purchace in August, just before the new 55 plate comes out. Last August Bank Holiday is when I brought my Signum, extra cash off as they were having a clearout. Mine also from the Network Q webtite, but from under the Vauxhall Central Stock link. So I went to my dealer for test drive, but told them I wanted the 3.2 V6 which they had a few on the web. Job sorted, and I was happy with the service.

I bought mine from a Non VX dealer, with hindsight I wouldn`t do it again, they washed their hands of the car when I drove it off the forecourt and my VX dealer was less than enthusiastic about fixing the faults under warranty as I had not bought it from them. Also the service was done by a non VX garage so I cannot buy the extra yaers warranty which Vauxhall offer (one of the conditions is a full vx service history). I would after my experiance reccomend a dealer for buying a Veccie.

if you are buying from a dealer make sure its not a ex rental car (a lot are) 1 owner 54 drivers!! try and get a V.F.M car (vauxhall fleet management) they are normally vauxhall employee or 1 driver company car.

I have just bought a 04 plate GSi with 8500 miles on it about 6 weeks ago from a main dealer. I paid £11700 for mine trading a Leon Cupra and a mondeo against it. Hope this gives some guidence I also looked at a SRi 2.0 T for £11995 with 15000 miles ex rental bit thrashed sounded ropey so I left well alone.

Thanx to everyone for your input, what price would you think is fair for a 54 plate gsi with under 10,000 miles and in A1 condition.
With regard to warranty if you buy from a non vx dealer does any vx dealer you choose have to fix the car if it has a vx service hitory, i was under the impression that the first service is 20,000 miles is this correct or is it after one year, didnt know you could buy an extension to warranty is this the same as the main warranty and how mch do they charge.

It doesn't matter where you bought the car. The warranty comes with the vehicle, not the place it was bought or the person who bought it, it is therefore totally transferrable in this respect.

The only problems you may get is if someone other than Vx has done 'work' on it (or a service maybe). This is because they may have not used the 'proper' Vx spares.

I paid £11,000 for an ex Fleet Management SRi Turbo with 7500 on the clock. I've seen GSi's at my main dealer for under £12,500 with less that 12000 on the clock on 54 plates.
