Default A bit of Ebay advice Please. Item I've sold has gone faulty before I sent it.

Hi guys.. just a bit of Ebay advice.

I've been selling a few of bits I no longer need on Ebay, one of the items was a 12volt freeview box which we used to use in our caravan. Just come to check it out before posting it off to purchaser and the remote seems to have packed up since I last used it, I've tried 2 sets of new batteries, but its obviously gone duff. First time this has ever happened to me after selling something on Ebay.

I've emailed the guy explaining the position and I've refunded his payment in full via Paypal, I dont suppose I can cancel out any ebay fees with Ebay as the sale cannot go ahead although it did end because of the buynow, is there any way I can prevent him leaving neg feedback though he may be okay about it... not sure yet as he has not come back to me yet... whats the best procedure when this happens re. Ebay.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hopefully he will just accept the refund and the reason and that will be that and no neg feedback.Don.t know if Ebay will still charge, you could email them and see, giving the reason, also keeps you right if the other guy does complain

Cheers guys... I have emailed a query with Ebay, just in case.

I dont mind paying the fee's, Ebay have done their job and its not their fault, at the end of the day it was just my misfortune that the remote decided to pack up, good job I checked it out before posting it off.

You can cancel the transaction and refund him - there is a way of doing it specifically for stuff that's lost or broken.

Yes.. you are right... I've just found out, its the bottom option on the dropdown menu at the end of the item line in Ebay, its inside that bottom option.

    Thanks for your help again.
