Question Stealers - Should I complain?

Just found out from part number that my oil was replaced with 10/40w instead of 5/30w. Should I complain? I know it should be O.K., and I will change it before its due in 6 months anyway, but shouldnt they use 5/30w? the car has an eco service system, 1.8 2006.

Yes, they put the wrong oil in for EcoService Flex.

If your car is set to the EcoFlex schedule as opposed to the EcoService schedule then it should have the 5W-30 long-life oil. It sounds like you're saying you're on the EcoService schedule? i.e. 20,000 miles/12 months in which case the 10W-40 will be okay, especially if you're looking to change the oil in six months as well.

As a matter of interest how did they itemise the oil on the invoice. Vx serviced my car on Monday & apparently they put in 10 x 0.5 ltrs of 10.40 semi. Seems a very petty way of inflating the price

That's just the way they charge for the oil. Obviously they have a huge barrel of it but the units they use in terms of charging for it are by the half litre. What you have to look at is what did that 5l of oil cost you overall?

    IT WAS ITEMISED AS:
    90513470 OIL ENGINE £5.60 TIMES 4.30 £21.22 ( with VAT)
I rang to confirm the item code, its their bulk oil code for 10/40w.
