    Default cone or panel

seen alot of people put k+n pannel filters in their diesels but is there any more gain to a cone filter?

If you fit a cone filter then you run the risk of sucking in very hot air from the engine compartment when in slow moving traffic (all engines like cold air, more dense, therefore more of it ). That's why all motors have an air intake pipe from the atmosphere (ie. outside the engine compartment)

So unless you fit a cold air ram induction kit (cone filter is enclosed in a big box which has an air intake hose from the grille area or other exposed outside area), you may as well fit a panel filter IMO.

See what other members say before deciding - this is just my opinion having had cone filters on other motors.

Iv got a K&N Panel Filter fitted and air box mod (Just take the funnel out inside the box). As standard my 1.9 CDTi SXi is 147bhp, with K&N Panel Filter and air box mod I gained 11bhp to 158bhp rolling roaded! Forget the Cone get an panel filter for the same reasons gtr100 said!!
