Default A good time to jump?

    Hi All

My Vec B is getting a bit tired so I have been looking around the Vec C market and it seems there are plenty of low mileage 57 and 08 SRi's available for £8,500 - 9,500 (I'm looking at the diesels).

Since a new one would cost over twice that amount, it seems to me this could be a very good time to buy, unless of course prices are going to continue going down with the present economic climate.

I guess factors like the arrival of the new Insignia and the sheer volume of cars manufactured are also having an effect, but do you reckon now is the time to grab a bargain? I like the idea of 2+ years of remaining warranty!

    Vectras do plumit in price.
I have an 03 Plate £2k Maximum now in value.
However if you are planning to keep it then you can pick up a right bargain at present, Dont got for SRI spec though the newer versions have very little 'extras' Almost a basic version.

Local dealer is doing a choice of colours SRi's - 1.8 for £7295, 1.9CDTi for £9995. Most have between 10k and 16k on the clock, mostly ex-Avis.

You'd need your head looking at if you bought a new Vectra right now - though the new Exclusiv Nav is going for £12k with the 1.8 new.

To answer the question as posed, is now the right time to buy?

In honesty I would have to say no, because prices are still going down, the economy is still in nosedive, the Insignia isn't on the road yet and uncertainty in the markets.

However, Christmas is upon us (a historically low car sales time - so maybe lower prices) US Gov.t may bail out GM, Ford etc - which may bolster the industry, loans are becoming more easily available.

Personally, I would wait 5-6 months, how much is your B realistically worth?
