ok just to pick your brains on my last car i had 215/50/16 and then when i got new ones they put 225/50/16 but i read it should be 225/45/16 whats the difference and are there any ill effects from having this mix

The profile is expressed as a percentage of the tyres width so a 225/50 means that the side wall profile of that tyre is 50% of the width, 225/45 = a profile of 45% of the width (225). It will make no marked difference which tyre you fit
If you're on 16's you should have 205/55 or 215/55.
215/50 and 225/45 are tyre sizes for 17" wheels, but both are ok![]()
was definately 16s but now on 17s and can get 225/50s cheaper than the 45s are they ok to use etc wont put the speedo out or that
What? You can't put 17" tyres on 16" rims.
think there has been a misunderstanding i had 16s on my last c but on the new one i have 17s
You want 215-50-17 or 225-45-17. They're the only "proper" sizes.
