    Default Bulb replacement warning

The bulb replacement warning light is constantly on in my display. I have checked and checked all bulbs on the car. All appear to be working.

The problem seemed to occur after I opened the tailgate and then closed it. I checked the luggage compartment light and it appeared off I pulled the cover off which contains the bulb and just by moving it slightly the bulb came on. Problem solved I thought. However on checking the display the warning light was still on. I checked the passenger glove compartment and it was working correctly I pressed the plastic switch which makes the glove compartment light go off when the lid is closed and light in compartment went out but warning light on display remained off. This made me think that maybe the switch controlling the tailgate (which controls the luggage compartment light) might be sticking. I checked the light went out by looking into compartment when tailgate was closed, the light went out. However I can not find any push switch on the tailgate which controls the switching on/off of the luggage light. Anyone know where the switch for light is on the tailgate? Or any other suggestion why the warning light remains on?

The tailgate light isn't covered by bulb failure warning. The switch for boot light is actually in the lock mechanism.

The bulb failure warning covers main lights front and rear, not every bulb on the car.

I really don't know why you were experimenting with the glovebox.

Thanks for that. I was trying to check every bulb I could think of as I have checked all the main bulbs several times and all are working ok. So trying to eliminate any other bulbs that might give warning light to come on.

Check every light in the rear clusters. There are two taillights per side, and one of them is also the brake light. If one of the tail lights go out, then the other takes over as the brake light as well as a tail light.

i was reading on the Saab forum

& it seems they have a similar problem, one of the cures was a bulb failure warning relay gone faulty (bad soldered connection on it)
it was on a 06 Aero

You probably have the failure of the bulb failure relay!! It's supposed to warn of bulb failures, but it usually fails itself first!!

In the fuse / relay box next to the battery, it's the orange relay at the rear right hand side.

Usual failure is the solder to the connection pins. You can remelt the solder as a repair.

Otherwise they are £5 and up on ebay or £60 and up from a dealer....
