    Question Hi guys, I'm a new owner of 53 reg,black GSI 3.2 V6 hatchback.

    Hi everyone,
My name is Kieran and I am the proud owner of this lovely car. Currently it is bog standard but I have plans, wife and mortgage permitting! I have previously owned a 2.5 omega est which was a blast when I was 19! That was a company car, since then I have had 406's(absolute rubbish) an astravan(cheap company tax), pug205,stripped down(skateboard rocket!). Currently have an L200 Animal as a company car and use the GSI as a weekend and evening car. I think for the money you pay you get awesome performance and reasonable servicing costs.
The only downside i have discovered is watching the fuel needle go down with every press of the throttle! Great fun though.
I want to modify my car but want to keep it classy, not bolting things on for the sake of it. I would like to put smoked Lexus lights, smoked side repeaters, smoked windows, a nice spoiler(nothing too garish) and maybe BBS lightweight alloys.

    Questions;
    1. How much would my standard 19"GSI wheels fetch me? They are in perfect nick with tyres in very good condition. How much would those Irmscher alloys cost used?
    2. The car feels very heavy so I would like some advice as to making the car lighter without stripping out the interior( I like the executive look inside. I done the stripped out look with my Pug 205). I hear the flywheel is heavy.
    3. Is ebay king or are there better places to look for quality parts at reasonable prices. I like the Irmscher grille but its difficult to convince the missus that spending £80 on a bit of plastic is a good thing! Vauxhall Dealers are a fortune. I live in North London.
    4. I have had the idea of having my alloys sprayed a gun metal grey to give the car a meaner look against the pearlescent black of the car. Has anyone seen this done before and does it look any good? Most people have shiny alloys and I think this could look good.

I have seen some nice looking cars on the website and hopefully I will join you soon.

    Cheers and hello again!

    Kieran

    Hi Kieran..

From the top, The standard GSi alloys are 17" Dia.. If you have the 19" option thou, these go for about £800 if they're in good nick.

The flywheel is heavy, but it's got a lot of engine to keep turning. You can get a lightened one, but it's gearbox and subframe out to fit. It will help it rev quicker, but that's about it.. they are big barges now so reducing the weight is a bit of a challenge..

For quality parts, try LMF or one of our approved traders on here, like redgriffin.

Colour changed alloys?? Why not.. there's no convention that say's they have to be silver.. Drinky had black alloy's and they looked the dogs proverbial..

As for the fuel?? No -one buys a 3.2 for it's economy.. Thou i am getting slightly more MPG now i've switched to super unleaded..

    Just use and enjoy

If you're free next weekend, come up to santa pod and bring it for a spin..

Welcome to the site mate, good choice of car, Dunno if the VX 19`s are a bit big in the face to paint gunmetal though, maybe a bit dark, just my opinion though, and LMF or Rossiters are the guys for parts, both approved traders and offer a discount to members ...

Thumbs up I bow to you all, oh mighty ones!

Cheers, guys. Nice to feel welcome.
Thanks for all the advice, I seem to be a bit naive at the moment but now I have found a decent owners club with knowledgable advice I can put a few ideas into motion.
I think I probably will come to the Santa Pod to get a flavour of what my car can offer.
