hi guys i have a vec 30cdti thats covered 40k on a 2005 pre facelift when appliying the throttle hard it smokes so bad that bad u cant c the car behind . no warning lights and drives like a dream i had noticed that if u remove turbo hose there is always oil /resadue in inlet to turbo is this normal for vectra c vx maintained as per vx spec any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Oil in the inlet is pretty normal. Reeking is overfuelling, so you're either looking at some sort of engine management issue, or worn injectors.

What sort of diesel do you use?

any various garages all suppliers from supermarkets to the big companys the fuel the supermarkets use is the same as the big boys the only difference is the big boys add different addatives or no addative that is why the shops are some times cheaper

Had exactally the same problem with my signum V6. Have a look at your air filter, you would have thought that the dealers would change the filter when they charge you the earth for a service but they dont!! After 50k in 4 years I opened my air box to find loads of crap in it and the original fit(and very clogged) air filter in it, changed it and hay presto, I could see behind me when pulling away from beemers on motorways again.
Also i have found that on tesco fuel, she smokes alot more than on other fuels. I try to run her on shell fuel now as she likes it more.

hi i checked the air filter not that long ago ive booked it back in to steelers next week not the same one as i usually use as there service levels are bad its posibably the injectors causing the smoke as the car has had 2 hp pumps allready so it may be possible some dirt got into injectors as its been smoking since the last pump was done and has been hesitating / small misfire at low revs so i will have to wait till next week but i may just check filter just in case
