    Default Airbags

Are there any airbag experts out there?
I have a brand new 3 spoke SRi steering wheel (without airbag) that I would like to fit to my Elite (4 spoke).
Would I be able to fit one of these to it and would it work?

Does the '2 pin fitting' refer to the age of car or steering wheel?
Is the airbag self contained or is there a connection into the wheel?
How does the airbag come off and is it something I can do myself without going to the stealers?

Age of car. Up to MY 2003.5 it is a one plug connection for the airbag, 2003.5 onwards it is two plugs. So if your car is older than MY 2003.5 then you won't be able to fit the airbag you mention in the link.

Not sure what you mean. I think you're asking, 'Is the airbag a separate unit from the steering wheel and not an 'all-in-one' unit i.e. wheel and airbag.' The answer is that the airbag is independent of the wheel i.e. airbag can be removed separately and put into another wheel.

Easy enough to remove, main tool is a philips screwdriver! lol. I can send you/post the actual instructions if you go for it. You just have to be careful of a couple of things.

    Thanks for the reply Duncan.
Although my car is 03 not sure of the wheels age although it is unused. Is it the wheel age and airbag age that need to be matched or does the car age come into the equation?
If the airbag is independant of the car then is it just a case of matching wheel to airbag? i.e. 2 pin to 2 pin and if so what do these pins actually do?
Am I right in assuming the airbag functions alone (i.e. activation sensors are contained within it) and not elsewhere on the car?
I would be very interesed in the removal process.

    Cheers
    John
