Default Speed Camera's / Mobile speed traps M6>M61

........... on route to manchester from Glasgow.

I'll be driving down friday night possibly between 6-9 pm or 11pm-2am

I'll be on the M74 down to carlisle then M6

M6 onto the M61 at bamber green then on to manchester.

I know the M60 ring road is riddled with camera's but by that time I'll be so close to my destination I'll prob be doing 20mph anyway, lol.

does anybody know of anything I should be looking out for on this route, particularly speed camera vans, or traffic police, or even road works ??

I drove down to manchester just a few weeks ago, but a couple of people I know have jus been banned or given hefty points recently so I'm just a bit apprehensive about going over 71mph . I've been told the dumfries and galloway area is notorious for cameras.

any info or advice would be great guys , thanks

To be honest mate. It just isn't worth putting your foot down any more. Especially the route you're taking. The M60 is usually too busy anyway.

The trouble with the M6 north of Carlisle is that it's beautifully crafted for a 'Drivers' driver (if you see what I mean). There's loads of sweeping bends and the scenary is magnificent. It's easy to see how people get caught there.

I know what you mean, I dont usually drive fast. but sometimes your speed creeps up a bit and you dont even realise how fast your going. I think I'd fall asleep at the wheel if I was to drive at 70mph all the way down.

Motorways and speed cameras are a recipe for disaster. M'ways are our safest roads, so there really is no excuse for using them.

Just out of interest matey, is it down to the individual bobby to use his camera on a motorway bridge, or is he/she usually ordered to?

They will usually be directed by their command team. There are very few bobbys now that want any connection with speed cameras. Most of us recognise them for what they are!

They are never put in any real blackspots (I could direct them to a few places), but in positions with the heaviest traffic volume. I haven't touched a Laser in over two years. I have given speeding tickets to people taking the proverbial when I've been following them.
