    Default Front windows open themselves!!!

Mines a Vectra Active 1.8i saloon, which has electric front windows. On two recent occasions I've returned to the car after leaving it properly locked only to find that BOTH front windows are open by about 8-10CM, while everything else seems normal.

This is rather disturbing as it mean that I'm never certain sure that my car is secure while i'm away from it. I presume it'll be a dealer job but I'd like some idea of what it might be so that i'm not given goobledegook when i get there.

I see sundance posted a similar problem at while back under the thread "your car is at risk" but the thread doesn't identify what the fault was found to be, and perhaps more importantly what the solution was and cost!

you have probably push on the open button and held it for a few seconds without relising and because none of the dorrs have been opened they automaticly lock themselfs

Thanks for your reply. But the situation is i leave the car locked with the front windows firmly shut and when i return the car is still locked but with both front windows slightly open. your explantion doesn't fit the bill.

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but you can remotely open (and close) the windows with the keyfob if you leave your finger on the buttons too long or if it's in your pocket wedged up against something that is pressing the buttons in.

That aside, I have seen a very small number of other posts where people have mysteriously had windows open by themselves, but no explanation other than an accidental overdose of fob button pressing.

I had the very same thing happen.
You lock the car and walk away. The key could be being pressed in your pocket "the lock button". This open's the window's a little and still leave's the car locked.

If the lock button was being pressed in your pocket then the windows would remain shut.

Pressing down (and holding down) the unlock button will open the windows.

Also the Vectra-C has auto locking whereby if a car door or boot hasn't been opened within 30 seconds of the car being unlocked, it will lock itself back up, BUT not set the deadlocks. This *might* explain why the car is still locked when you've returned to it, but the windows are open.

ie, you've accidentally pressed and held down the unlock button for a few seconds (or until out of remote range of the car) windows in turn open, and 30 seconds later the car locks itself back up again. If you're fortunate enough to have rain sensing wipers, then the windows will close themselves if it happens to be peeing down with rain at the time.

I fully understand whats being said, and it's must be me (or the wife) that's at fault. I'm still dubious as i have had the car for nearly 5 years from new and haven't had the problem before. I suppose the next time it happens a test would be to see if the car is deadlocked by reaching in and trying to open the door from inside (even if it sets the alarm off!!). It doesn't seem particularly sensible for a deadlocked car to have an option to open the windows from the remote - where is the practical use?

Hot day, walking up to car - press remote to open windows to help lose a bit of heat from inside before getting in.
