I've just been offered a 1989 lotus Esprit with 60k on the clock for 5.5k...
It's the rounded shape 2.2NA engine in excellent condition...as I've seen it... it doesn;t need any work doing on it either..

The boy is saying - "go on you want it!"... but the sensible head is saying "am i going to be taking on too much!"

what should I do!?

I would seriously consider a full AA or lotus specialist inspection. Dont be seduced by the glamour of the Lotus badge, they are a lot of work to keep running, expensive to maintain and run and not hugely relieble.

My best advice would be to find the lotus owners club website and if they have a forum, ask some questions on there.

Its worth spending some time making sure its a sound buy.

Why not....Sounds perfect for sunny Sunday jaunts to the seaside but not for every day use. Lotus is actually an acronym: "Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious".
I'd go for it ..... if only I'd garage room myself.....

Once had a lotus sunbeam absolutely cracking car till the engine went west then it was time to see the bank manager big time get a full inspection first m8 and at the end of the day its not huge amounts of money for a cracking car when it all works right !!!!!

A lotus sunbeam Drinky, I had a go of one of them in my youth, a total weapon !!!!

One of my mates had an Esprit Turbo, had a limited use insurance policy on it so It didn`t cost the earth to run, very nice toy. He sold it to a rich kid who wrote it off in a week !!!!

I would go for it, lota car for the money, just have it inspected first ...
