    Default Car Insurance + Modding

    Afternoon All,

I have come across a very strange problem.

My insurance renewal is currently £730 starting december.

I have a Vectra 2.2 Elegance '03. I have been quoted from A.F, that if I modify my car. My insurance will be £601.

Now the modification i said on the phone was new suspension. But they have said the insurance would cover me for all modifications without affecting the BHP of the vehicle.

Are there any smallish Mod's i can do, that would need to be noted on insurance. Just to get my cost down.

    Many thanks

    Nick J

neverlandandy - I totally agree, and i always plan to disclose mods. My problem at the moment is. My car is completely standard.

My car renewal lowest price is £730.

But A.F have said if my car is modded, my insurance would be £601. It cannot be a mod that affects the BHP.

I did not really have an intention to mod the car. But if a company says my insurance will be cheaper if i do, thats what i'm telling the miss .

Is there any cheap mods i can do that i would have to disclose to insurance.

well i have just got a £22 reduction after a phone call to my insurance company, they said i had to declare the wheels as a modification despite the wheels being a factory fitted option, anyway gave them a ring and they said yes i can take the wheels off the list as the car is factory standard.as to your insurance quote have you tried around? you should be able to get a better deal from someone, there are a lot of internet based companies that do cheap deals

How about a list of 'planned mods' you'd like them to cover you for?

Give them a list of stuff you're allegedly planning to do over the coming year
