eml light.... I need to help now?

Can anyone help me?
I have a Vectra 5 door hatch back 150 sri cdti 2007 with only 49K on the clock and driven miles with the engine management light on and done all I could to fix it with no luck.
Over the Xmas break really got to work trying to sort it out. The new alternator before Xmas made me re-new my efforts to tidy the family car up. The third alternator which has amazed me to be honest on such a low mileage car. After the "stealers" fitted it I had a warning light reporting a fault with the power steering which I fixed myself as I thought they'd left the plug off the rack. After this the break lights acted oddly and again 4 bulbs rectified this.
Today I cleaned EGR valve and boost sensor and emptied out fuel filter in case water had cause an engine management light fault.
Any other thoughts on how I get the light off..... I've done the battery thing as well in my effort to sort out this car.
Please help me there must be someone with the same problem..... last time the alternator was change it went out nearly straight away.

you got a fault code? done the pedal test?

Have you had the codes Read to see what is causing the light to come on ?

The peddle thing didn't work in my car and I'm not sure how to get the code. Thinking of buying a code reader now.
All help is and will be appreciate - all comments welcome.
