    Default Engine options...

Still thinking and deciding what to do performance wise with my piece of poo, I know modifying my 1.8 will be expensive for not much gain so have been thinking about whether to take the scary step of engine swaps. I did want the 2.0T engine but its not the easiest to find or the cheapest, but I'm in 2 minds about the 3.2 as they seem to be fairly cheap money for what they are, hmmm ideas ideas lol

what you need is an entire crash damaged car to swap all the bits over from, as anything above the 1.8 and you'll be needing another gearbox/shafts /looms etc etc ..

Thats what I'm hoping to source, I know I'll need to change pretty much everything but should be well worth it.

Just out of interest the Omega 3.2 is the same engine code, is there much differences between the Vectra and Omega engine parts wise??

Omega is rear wheel drive, so gearbox, bell housing, all the piping, the wiring will be totally different. The block is about all you could salvage realistically.

At the min I've been quoted 2.5k for the whole job to be done, they supply and fit the whole lot I just give them the car. I'm gonna get a couple more quotes from a couple of other places just to be sure, but fitting a 3.2 has to be done, I'm gonna try and not spend on anything else at the min as the car really needs the power to match the looks

Thats going to hit your insurance mate, best give them a ring and check it out first. Might be better getting a new car by trading yours in as there is some great deals out there. Yours plus £3K should get you a nice car plus transfer all you bits over.

Not only will you need to transfer all the running gear, exhaust and harnesses you will need to replace the springs as the new engine will be heavier than your old one. I am sure that I could get the job done a lot cheaper as well but would need to check. You would need a rear damaged car as any damage to the front would only ramp up the cost and may have damaged the running gear.

Would it work out cheaper to put your car back to standard, sell it, then buy a gsi, what with the prices dropping so much on the larger engine vectras, then putting your bits back on the gsi?
