It's my B day today so I wanted to go have a shant, one thing struck me was other than me only 4 other ppl had a poppy on, and to make it worse only one of the four was a doorman, not to bash on about this but it really grits me that ppl can't donate £1 per year towards it, that would be 60 million to aid our troops when they come back incomplete at least, this isn't about if you agree with war, this is about looking after ppl who stood up for you, my mate was on the Sheffield when it got hit, he's tattood with it, his whole life changed that day and the scar is evident 25 yrs on, if you won't buy a poppy you can consider yourself non British imo, I don't want you and don't ever claim to be British, cos British is sticking together, never leave a wounded man die, never say never, never surrender, if this isn't you you ain't a Brit full stop and I won't ever accept you, Brits are Bulldogs and we cannot be beaten by anyone, get your pride get your poppy!

I heard on the radio yesterday that this year was the highest sales of poppies ever. You must have been around a load of time waister's when you seen them without theirs.
Got to say i had mine on and the car's got hers on the front grill.

I agree entirely. I'm on my third poppy this year, as I keep losing 'em. I had to laugh when the man selling them outside Waitrose in Wymondham assured me that he could only give pins to people who were not children, and looked like they were "sensible enough not to hurt themselves", due to health and safety issues.
I passed on both counts, but SWMBO was prepared to dispute the second point.

Totally agree m8,i bought a poppy and wore it with pride,i had a father in the marines and a brother in the army,both saw action and am very proud to wear my poppy for all the men and women that gave and put their live's on the line for all of us........

A quid ?

I always put in a fiver at least, but whatever the amount one contributes is totally irrelevant, the thing is, its one of only a few causes thats genuine these days. Funny enough this year the wife and I ended up buying 4 poppies, because we had already bought 2 when shopping last week, and the other night around 7pm 2 old ladies (much older than myself...lol) knocked our front door, it was throwing it down with rain, and yet they had walked a long way, as wer'e off the beaten track to sell poppies on behalf of the legion. My wife contributed a tenna and gave them some hot chocolate, a really nice couple of ladies they were... bless em. ( ended up making a couple of new local friends)
