Top Gear Polar challenge

Have watched this TG episode many a time but have always wondered, as they say an earlier air rescue would have been out of the question, how did they all get back once they'd reached the pole?

The cars I guess had to be driven back (or were they abandoned), were they air lifted (cars & crew, although can you get big enough air transport up there), did they send a car transporter & Winebagoetc, etc..

The same must apply to all explorers - once you're at your goal, then what? Take up residence?

think they air lifted the crew and stuff out ..maybe they loaded the cars too ..
