    Default Service cost

Can't believe it, just booked in for first service, just under 2 years old, just under 15,000 miles. Cost of service quoted at less than £160, that's less than £80 a year to service what is after alll quite a complex bit of kit. to City Saab & Vauxhall.

Mine is booked in for its first service, they said it would cost £115, I think that is good too.

To be honest, and I'm stepping out of the mould a little, I personally think that even these prices are high for what is actually done. First service, on mine, was oil and oil filter change. Inspecting the fluid levels is noddy stuff that the driver should do anyway. So you are paying for essentially oil and filter. Over the counter that is less than £30 and that is retail prices and for long life oil. Where is the rest coming from ? Checking tyres and fluids and wiper blades ??? come on, how much of this actually gets done? and why are you not doing it yourself every week / month or what ever interval takes your fancy.

This topic is something I keep going on about, paying over the top prices for not a lot in return.

Also, how do you know it has been done properly, with the correct oil and not the cheaper standard life oil? answer - you don't and there is no check possible to find out. You simply pay the money and trust your car to them.

IMO not the way to go. Changing oil and filter can be done standing on your head, it is not difficult. Or you could take it else where and provide the hardware from VX, over the counter. If the place is VAT registered, then VX warranty will not be affected in any way at all.

There you go, my little rant over.

Maybe I'm just a cheapskate, maybe I just don't like being ripped off by the stealer (or anyone else for that matter)

    Thanks

    See your point mate.
