    Default IPOD classic to HI-FI

I need to get a dock that charges a classic IPOD, has phono output and charges the IPOD. What are my options?

There's an option, doesn't have direct phono's but you can get a 3.5mm to phono cable.

Plenty of other options too - ranging from £20 to infinity...

EDIT: just noticed it doesn't support the video output from the Classic, but if you only want it for music...

I've got an Onkyo AV amp so went for the Onkyo Ipod dock as it works with the amps remote, was about £40 though. I also had a Kensington Ipod dock from Richer Sounds, decent quality bit of kit with remote for £10, although don't think that did video either.

Richer have got this one http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...ID10-IPOD-DOCK at the minute

The Kensington one doesn't do video, but neither does my iPod! It does the job nicely for me.

The pukka apple solution is an AV cable like this: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB...mco=MjE0NTAzOA

It charges, plays audio through your stereo and video to your TV. There's a component version as well which has separate reg, green and blue leads which is supposed to be better quality than composite. Composite is probably more universally compatible with more TVs at present, component input is standard on newer, HD-ready TVs.

The extra-pukka solution is to get the apple universal dock with a neat little apple remote. http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB...mco=MjE0NTAzNw You still need a separate AV cable as above.

If it is just audio you want there are many, as mentioned, on ebay. Be careful with docks as they are not all suitable for all ipods, as discussed above. I have a currys clearance dock, with remote, which I use for the stereo but it will not play video. I have the apple component lead for that. (I have the same ipod classic 160Gb)
