    Default Shocks for a VXR

    I have a problem

At the last service, they discovered that the 2 front shocks are leaking fluid and need replacing
I've been onto VX Cust Services, but its a no go on the goodwill gesture as they have covered 42k

So, instead of paying the £780 they want for 2 standard VXR ones and springs, what other options do I have? Anyone know?

I know that the big VX tuners like thorney, courtenay etc use KW Varient's, but i get a bit confused as the suspension (in standard) stiffens up when the sport button is pressed. Does anyone know if this feature will be lost if I use aftermarket ones? Doesnt matter really, but i'm worred that it might cause problems.

Also, can anyone recommend some good shocks that will work on the VXR and provide links to websites?

    Ta muchly

    Matt

you will need their(vx) shocks for the IDS to work...without it it will flag up a faultlight..., so VX is the best way to go...you can leave the standard springs on, unless you're desperate to lower it, but even then it'll only be a smidge..

    I was worried about that.

But i want the upgrades as knowing my luck I'll pay VX for 2 new front ones and the ****** back ones will go and I'll be paying out another £780.

By using aftermarkets, I'll get all 4 changed, which will last much longer for £40 more

I'm sure that the tuners will have a way around the problem.
Looks like I'm going to have to have a chat with them to find out.

    Thanks guys.

Is there no way of servicing the originals (new seals etc) as shelling out nearly £800 is shocking.

    Unfortunatly not mate.

They are sealed units and would probably kill you trying to take them apart.

Hey ho, nevermind, These will be winging thier way to me by the end of the day

They look nice mate not bad price either.
Do you get any sort of noise from the shocks that you have on at the moment like a rattle or bumping? The noise that comes from mine is awfull really starting to drive me mad.I am thinking about getting some dap springs to see if it tightens it all up as i have heard it does make it better.

yeah, i do get a bit of noise from them, but i just assumed it was due to them being cold as it seems to fade once she's been driven for a while.

Maybe this is normal, but it turns out they are p1ssing fluid

may want to get yours checked, just in case.

I've got standard VXR Shocks on the car with DAP Racing Springs. DAP Racing springs are much better than the 888 Eibach setup. The DAP front height is fractionly lower than Eibach, but made a huge difference in handling...
