Normally by hand with a spray gun off Muc Off.
Very sensitive electronics in modern cars and gone are the days where you just hose everything down with a pressure washer
Get a good stock of rags and muc off and get stuck in

Megs All Purpose Cleaner or Autoglymm Engine and Machine cleaner are good
as blues n twos above says, just spray on (carefully) and aggitate with brush and wipe off.
For the plastics then you can use something like Megs All Seasons Dressing.
my preferred method is the one that the blokes over at polished bliss recommended
Step 1) lift bonnet, spray your cleaner everywhere and agitate with a stiff brush.
step 2) start rinsing the engine off, lifting the washer as high as possible, and dont use any pressure. If using a variolance on a karcher, set it at its slowest setting, or even better use a garden hose.
step 3) leaving the bonnet open to help cleaning, leave the car running for at least 5 minutes to help the drying process.
