Gradually they have got worse,so I'm assuming that there's a little filter in the pump motor(s) that needs unblocking.Is there an easy way to do this or do I have to remove acres of plastic as now seems to be the norm?

My windscreen wiper bottle got blocked i just poured boiling water in and gave it a couple of mins then tried squirting the washers all ok now.
There used to be a filter in the windscreen reservoir, my previous Vectra B had one
Shortly after I purchased the car the windscreen washers had poor performance, so I drained the tank, using a clear pipe and syphon, and all kinds of slime and vegetation came out!
The dealership replaced the filter at the second, 20K miles service
Problem solved after doing a search for 'windscreen washers'.
Location: below n/s h/lamp.
Undid torx screws in nsf w/arch where bumper is and then took out one from underneath,below the washer bottle.Make sure wheels are turned to right for easy access.Pull the pump upwards out of its grommet and then pull the grommet out of the washer bottle.This was seriously bunged up.Cleaned with warm water.Also removed non-return valve and blew through holes (make sure you don't lose the tiny 'o' rings that fit in between the valve and the pump).Also removed water level sensor and cleaned it (just pulls out,but is awkward to get back),make sure you align its grommet correctly and also the sensor,refitted after washing out washer bottle.Washed out washer bottle with hot water (jeez it was filthy!) and then replace pump grommet making sure it seats correctly.Slide the pump vertically onto the grommet and push home,but don't push too far otherwise you'll restrict the flow of water to the pump.Realign w/arch liner and refit screws.Voila!

If anyone else has problems with windscreen washer jets you might have acquired the same bizarre problem I had. There is a little rubber non return valve in the hose that stops the water returning so when you squirt the screen the water doesnt have to travel all the way up to the screen. Anyway mine got blocked, I didnt even know it was there but I was blowing out the windscreen washer hose with an airline in desperation after checking everything and the valve flew out. I didnt bother refitting it and the the washers work fine now, does take a couple of seconds for the water to come through.
where abouts is this non return valve?
I've had a problem with my front screen washers. I've fitted a new pump so it can't be that, i then bought some clear plastic hose to bypass the original hose and it works fine, apart from the water flowing back down the pipe when i stop spraying. Basically i think i need new new hose from the pump that goes up through the wheel arch and comes out at the scuttle panel, where its joined to the jets, could the length of pipe be blocked somehow, anyone know how much it costs?

Not sure weather its just mine or on al lvectras but on mine the spray from the left of each washer jet is aimed lower on the screen than the spray from the right of each washer jet!!
Is this normal?

Get a windscreen washer tool and readjust it.
