    If you mean the X22SE in the Omega, it's a completely different engine. It uses a belt instead of a chain.

    Knowing nothing about engines I ask perhaps a silly question. THEORETICALLY could you simply 'bolt on' a turbo to the 2.2 direct then reprogram/replace the ECU to greatly increase power?

    apparently you get 800 bhp out of ecotec if you pockets are deep ebough.

    yes, that's the car the guy at work has, i wasn't sure either way but i thought it was different. what about the 2.2 in the vectra B - is that the same as the Omega version or similar to my engine??

    Vectra B uses the Z22SE.

    The whole engine is alu and the pre 2.2 is a cast unit.

    Not according to 2003 Vectra brochure. It says ' Alloy Cylinder Head' and 'Alloy Cylinder Block' for the 2.2i 16v 145bhp (non-direct). What can't speak can't lie?
