    Default Door Mirror Help

My auto dimming driver's door mirror has been totally destroyed on my 06 Elite whilst it was parked up. To get it replaced by the VX stealer will cost me £380.

The next cheapest option is to buy a second hand unit but I cannot find one with auto dimming anywhere. Ordinary mirrors are plentiful and cheap, but they don't have the wiring for the auto dimming and I'll have to source the auto dimming glass (from eBay as they are £145 from a stealer!)

So, does anyone know if you can take the wiring off my mirror and swap it onto another one? The triangular housing on our mirrors contains a connector - is this removable?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers - I have seen the auto folding but I'm not 100% it'll work on my car? I have also seen both the mirror glasses - that is why I am asking the question as to whether I can add just the glass to an ordinary mirror.

when you have autodimming you should be abel to use the current wirering from the broken mirror to put in to a replacement mirror.

Exactly - I'm trying to work out whether I can transfer the wiring from my mirror to another non-dimming mirror - are you sure you can?

    Hi Dean,

That would be extremely helpful - thank you very much! I can see that the wire disappears into the neck of the mirror and then I assume goes directly in to the back of the block connector on the triangular mirror base. However, as I haven't had a chance to remove what is left of my mirror, I'm not sure if I you can actually get to the back of that connector to be able to add in any additional wiring.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,

    Tim.
