Default fuel economy and trip computer

my 1.9 cdti 150 estate is drinking fuel,my trip computer also says lies, computer said 34.5 mpg, actual 31 mpg, trip computer said 11.5 gallons used,i filled up and put in 12.58 gallons (i filled up in the same petrol station and did exactly the same on both times)i dont drive that fast but for a diesel the economy is crap, most mileage was around town with a 50 mile trip down the motorway at 80mph in 5th (dont you love dpf,s)

My 1.8VVT's computer says 37.2mpg but I actually get 38.3mpg. I do 50/50 city/motorway, and drive about 80 on the motorway.

Plus fuel is 12p a litre cheaper...

DPF will regen at any speed once its ready, as long as you've got the latest software update.

And 31 around town is quite feasible if your DPF is burning - I'd wait and see what your next tankful comes out at.

With my remap my DPF used to regen every 1000 miles. That meant every 3rd tankful my mpg would drop like a stone. Great, isn't it?

DPF - what a BS idea they are. Good old Citroen, another stupid idea to plague the world with.

You do know when the DPF is cleaning, the engine throws unburnt diesel out the exhaust manafold, and if that isn't bad enough it'll pump neat diesel into the DPF. How environmentally friendly is that?!?

my 2.2 direct isn't particularly great on fuel, it has to be said. when i use it, it's for longer journeys on major roads, and it'll do about 36ish, on a run, more, maybe 39. when the wife uses it for short local journeys it indicates around 28.
the 'range' indication amuses me. i can drive 15 miles, say, and although the guage shows less fuel, the range can stay the same...

I have filled up my 150 CDTI Signum about a week ago and done around 380 miles since then.
The Range is reading about 140 miles (ish) to go and the gauge is reading around 1/3 tank to go.

I have done a lot of commuting (30 - 40mph roads) in stop start traffic and the computer says about 42mpg after the DPF regenerated itself this morning (was on for about 15 mins I reckon).

All in all, its not that bad on fuel and compared to my old F**d Focus TDCi, its far smoother, far more relaxing to drive and I can get out of it after a long drive and still feel human.

ps...... Use 6th Gear for cruising, makes one H3ll of a difference to noise and economy!

just been on the motorway and cruising at 60 in 6th and the computer said i was getting between 30 to 40mpg,cruising at 70mph it said between 40-45mpg once showing 54mpg,from these figures i would say my car is not very good on fuel economy,in fact i would say it is crap
