    Default Swirl Valve...

4 days out of warantee and the swirl valve goes :-(

Been quoted £844 less £240 goodwill from vx to get it replaced.

But before I speak to VX customer care whats the best I can expect from them?

Four days out warranty I'd be banging heads together to get 100% covered by Vx. £240 goodwill on an £844 bill when only four days out of warranty is somewhat taking the pee.

I'd get onto Vx Customer Care with a 'to the point' but polite request for a full contribution - especially as it's a known issue which they have rectified with modifed parts.

A few phone calls back and forth and VX have agreed to foot the bill.

But if I don't pay 10% of the bill then the replacement parts will not have any warantee on them should they fail in the next 12 months. Is this normal - and is it worth it to pay the extra? It seems to be a failry common probelm but if these are updated parts can I assume the issue(s) that cause it to fail have been rectified and I shouldn't see the fault again?

If you dont pay 10% there is no warrenty... what a load of crap! I wouldn't stand for that. The new parts should be the modified ones so no failure. BUt still i would argue that all new parts whether paid for by you or vx come with some kind of warrenty. vx cusomter care strikes again! ! ! ! get them told m8y

I've never heard of that either! If Vx are agreeing to cover it then it comes with 12 months parts and labour cover - although I have a sneaking feeling that it's 12 months or whatever remains of the car warranty, whichever is the shorter. I'd challenge them on that but if paying 10% is definitely going to get you 12 months parts and labour cover on that issue if it happens again then maybe for piece of mind you'll have to bite the bullet? I'd still challenge them.

it is true, any parts fitted under warranty will only be covered till the end of the warranty,or in this case till that day,if you pay something towards the bill then the parts will be guaranteed the full year

well, picked the car up today and started driving home. a lot of start stop trafic until I got on the motorway slip whixh is slightly uphill when i realised someone had stolen 100+ horses from the engine..
too late to turn around as they close at 17:30 i kept driving and decided to pop in for a word tomorrow.

5 miles down the motoroway and the spanner light comes on!!??!!

And the dealer is on the good dealer list too!

I think it will be a bit more than just a word tomorrow...
