    Default Facelifting Questions.....???

have ust noticed a few ppl on here doing facelift conversion of their veccy's. i have a couple of questions regarding this if you all would be so kind to answer.

1.How much for all the parts, 2 quarter panels, lights, bumper, bonnet etc.
    2. What do you tell your insurance(??!!), and if you do, is it any extra??!!
    3. IS IT WORTH IT....what i mean with this, is it difficult to do??

thanks, maybe others have these questions in their minds to ask too!!

    1. Really depends how how/where you source them. Obviously new at dealer is the most £££ so a rear-ender from a breaker is also a god option. You also need the slam-panel.
    2. I guess you just tell them you've altered the front end panels/bumper/lights to look like a facelift - simply for looks.
    3. From the parts involved it takes a bit of time but nothing is particularly difficult.

That's not from experience BTW, just from knowing the parts and seeing other guy's threads who've done it. Im sure one of them will be along with more specific answers.

Since I'm living in Sweden I cant answer to 1 and 2, but I know for sure that there are far more facelift parts avaible in UK so it's not that expensive after all.

    3. Defenitely! The car looks so much better, especially if you have the standard front and not the SRi. The full conversion maybe took me about 4-5 hours without any stress at all. Neighbours came by chatting, lunch break etc. Most of it is straight swap, what you choose is to either keep standard front panels (behing bumper) or not. I kept them, made some adjustments and everything lined up good!

The flat bar that runs across the width of the car, just above the lights - what the bonnet locking mechanism pokes through.

to do this project you will need

    bonnet
    2x wings
    2x head lights
    front panel
    complete front bumper

as duncan said the parts will be costly from the dealers, so try to find the at breakers yards or ebay as they do come up on there

And to make it easier, NO you DON'T need to change the front panel... I didn't. So if anyone wants to buy my spare facelift slam/front panel go ahead

The expensive part is getting them painted to colour match! I managed to get all my parts for around the 500 mark... Mainly from Ebay! It took me nearly 12 hours or so to do mine, but then I was going from alot of guess work.

So true! The parts isn't the main cost always, luckily I've got a nice car sprayer so I hope it isn't to expensive when I have to pay now

OT: I really like your Siggy as facelift. I actually bought my stuff when I had a Siggy 2.0t but sold it for the Veccy and put the facelift parts on that one instead.
