Default The Tuning Box is off and Car is chugging??

Hi guys, can any1 help here please coz I think im being paranoid?? Basically, 2 days ago I took my diesel tuning box off the engine having read that it can damage the injectors and fuel pump if used over a prolonged time! Now since taking it off the car it has felt a little hesitant and on occasions feels like it is chugging, coffing and spluttering. Earlier this evening I popped out to see my m8 and the car was doing the same, so I gave it a bit of throttle to try and clear the crap but the spanner light came on the dash I lost some power then it went off again, im confused??!! Now, I know a tuning box increases the fuel and air mix to create the extra power, but could the car not have reset itself after iv taken the box off causing excess the not fuel to be used, hence the hesitance and spanner light??

Maybe disconect the battery for 30mins so everything is wiped clean then reconnect then the system starts a fresh and is not looking for the box.
    Just a thought

To reset it you will need to disconnect the battery for 2. mins. This will also clear any fault codes stored.

    edit: Far far to slow!

Ill try the battery thing in the morning, but im doubtful it will work coz a tuning box only intercepts the info from the ECU and changes it before sending it on to the engine!
