Seat = warranty issue. Its normally a new seat needed Interior trim is covered for 1 year only, how old is the car, I'm assuming as you have said 2008 its not a year old yet.

    Not sure on the opening.

I had the same problem on a 2007 sri (new to me with 4000 on the clock and 8 months old). Used to creek everytime I moved in the seat or went over a bump. I fiddled with the seat adjustments, basically moved the seat up and down, tilted and untilted it a few times. I put my problem down to having the seat on it's lowest setting (due to my height) and now keep it a single ratchet off minimum. Been fine since, touch wood(10 months). Hope you get it sorted

Tried this tbh and it is ok for a few miles then starts to creak again, I know the mk4 astra had an issue with this and iirc it was the active headrest in the back that gave the trouble but tbh I think mine is in the base.

I recently took my Signum in because the seat was squaeking. I had my seat frame replaced under warranty, mine's an 06/06 but with full used NetQ warranty.

And yes, you can set up one touch opening - it's in the owner's manual and also (i think) in the How2 section on here.
