Don't really hear much about them TBH, but AFAIK they're oiled just like all the others - it's the oil that traps the dirt, and the cotton weave just holds the oil.

For the relatively little extra, why not go for a K&N? Tried, tested, proven...

Ah thought they were just like originall filters but better lol.
oh well, K&N is a possiblilty and cheaper actually but not want and mass meter issues.

I know nothing of the green filter.
But i just paid 44 quid delivered for a K&N one off ebay.
I'll be fitting it along with the shortened air intake pipe.

If you read through the blurb on the K&N website, they actually guarantee to cover any costs if their filters cause any problems.

They've never yet had a case where the filter has caused any damage.

FYI - and for anyone else - the majority of the time the MAF sensor fails is because there's oil on the sensor wire, and people wrongly assume that it's the oil from the filter that has caused the damage. In fact, when tested, the contaminating oil has actually been found to be residue from the manufacturing process of the sensor itself, and nothing to do with the filter.

And also, I don't think out of the thousands of members on here who no doubt have aftermarket filters fitted, I've ever seen a report of MAF damage...

Well for me it got rid of the flat spot. It wont harm it.. Yeah i recon you'll notice the difference. Airbox mod and filter deffo. Not sure on the shorter intake as i have seen good and bad things bout it like engines being calibrated to allow for the longer pipe etc.. mine was short as std so just left it.

Stick with K&N Filters as I have used them for years in various makes and model of cars and have never had a problem with them.
In fact I have 2 K&N Filters going begging for Focus ST170 and Galaxy 130pd TDI
