    Default £325+VAT to fit spoiler?

Just been informed by the body shop that is fitting my new spoiler that it is now going to cost £325+VAT (£381) to fit it as they have just discovered that the lip spoiler that is on the car already is held on by clips that are going to leave some holes which will then require to be welded and then filled before a respray of the tailgate.

Does this sound expensive and will it be worth the effort when finished?

    Welded? B0ll0cks!

Only need a blob of silicone sealer as you won't see the holes.

If they've painted it already then pick it up and fit it yourself.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

Sorry Taffy. I should have explained. The new spoiler is the raised type so the holes left will be very visible. They said that they will have to weld the holes because if they only fill them after a while the filler could just drop out when closing the tailgate.

What seemed to be a small job I guess has just escalated .

WTF are you having fitted If it's a wing type spoiler just leave the lip one on

All SRi owners that have a wing type leave the lip one on. It only ever gets removed if a VXR type is fitted and even then that covers the holes.

That would have been my choice but when they put the spoiler on the car and showed me how much better the spoiler would look if it was sat further back on the tailgate I had to agree.

Just don't tell her indoors. She says anything I spend on the car, she can spend in the clothes shops .
