Default bit of help if u don't mind.

my step daughter is after a peugeot 206cc (not my first choice but hey). i like to think i know my spanner's from my screwdrivers to a reasonable diy mechanic, but was wandering if anyone mite be able to give me some pointers to look out for with this car, i did ask on the owners chat room about this but the useless gits haven't got back to me yet,so here i arrive once again to my old faithfull...................you guys.

I've found Parkers owners reviews quite helpful in the past, it may be a place to start while your waiting for other feedback.

My Fiancee has the 206 cc and the electrical system seems to be an achilles heel for these the battery voltage dropped when half way though putting the roof down and it managed to blow the relays so it had a lengthy stay in peugeots waiting for parts, the switchgear is also poor indicators dont always work and the airbag sensors play around one minute working one minute not, the brakes and discs need checking and the clutch ,alignment of the roof as well as they leak like a sieve if there slightly out of line which the slightest gust of wind can cause.
The 1.6 is severely underpowered and handling is very poor especially with the roof down as the chassis twists , steering is heavy even with correct tyre pressures. To be honest the 206cc spec's are great and the car could be great but peugeot seem to have skimped on things and not the ideal long term car in my opinion and if the budget would stretch to it go for the Tigra instead. Hope this is of some help.

My wife had a 206GLX and now it's been lowered and has 17's it's driven by my son.

Nothing has gone wrong with it in over 3 years except the airbox had a fault where the intake was sited it filled with water. That has been cured and no problems since.

I had a 206 estate a few years ago and apart from the indicator stalk being replaced under warranty, again, nothing ever went wrong with it.

The CC does have a reputation for the roof motors but with all French cars they suffer with electrical problems (apparently)

Our 2 never had any problems so can only speak from our experiences

the main problems with the cc are the roof stopping half way down and electric problems (alot of 206's built after 2002 had electric problems due to the introduction of the multiplex wiring system) As for mechanical issues not alot usually goes wrong with them. Build quality is not the best. But its better than the english built 206 hatch and sw. The Ryton plant (where i worked) was the only PSA Peugeot Citroen factory to be red carded (No cars were allowed out until each one had been thoroughly inspected) due to safety critical build issues. One of my mates on the production line got a warning for leaving a metal clip under the carpet. This clip cut through some wiring, causing it to short and causing a fire while the person who bought it was driving. Scary.
