    Default Speed ramps.

Were i live we had speed ramps installed about 2 years ago. I had the Signum lowered -30mm and had no problem getting over them. The other day they were ripped out and replaced with lower one's
I contacted the council to ask why as we have been asking them to actually install more of them as the car's still speed up between the ramps. Well over the 20 mph limit.
They replied that the ramps were illegal at being 100mm high and they have replaced them to the legal max height of 75mm. " Of course they refused to comment about installing more of them "
I replied and said what a load of rubbish as all the speed ramps i see in the Salford area are about 100mm in height.

I asked who is going to be responsible when a child is knocked down in my street.

    Good news. Not for me.
I would rather have to take an extra minute to get over one than run a kid down. You should see the muppets driveing around at speed were i live.

i do agree speed bumps are a pain in the hole...some of them are far to high..even for standard modern day cars.but on the other hand we need to keep speeds down to keep kids safe...round my way has small speed bumps and traffic calming island...they seem to do the job around here and dont wreck your car.

i agree the safety of kids come first just that the speed ramps reck your car i think that the people that make the ramps must have shares in the suspension company,s

I always go over speed humps at crawling pace and have nearly had people in the back of me on many occasions.
A couple of weeks ago I got someone behind me hooting and leaning out of the window shouting at me.
a year ago I got pulled and argued with the policeman that I was within my rights to slow down and traverse the obsticles at a speed that won't damage my car, he argued that I was causing an obstruction and slowing without due cause was dangerous and likely to mean someone runs into the back of me.
If someone runs into the back of me, then thats their fault. I'm not wrecking my car going over the pink mountains for anyone.

I'm not saying I'd rather have people speeding about the place, but I don't like the current solution.
