    Default Steering Control Module

My speedo has been blimping sevral times then eventually shutting off along with the temp and petrol gauges. When stopped and re-started the whole cycle starts again!

My local garage has advised a new steering control module. Assuming this will solve the prob, im trying to get hold of a second hand one as thay are £300 from vaux.

I understand they need to be tech2 decoded from the donor car and then re-coded to mine. Is this correct? My local scrappy has one (not decoded from the donor car) but not sure it will work?

Any ideas or names of second hand part suppliers that could assist with supplying a decoded module?

    Thanks
    Chris

yes they need to be reset from the car then removed then reprogramed to the car when fitted

might be easyer to bite the bullet and go for a new one

they will need the iDent code from yours which means you have to take the steering wheel off. It will be a something like XU

First off mate, unplug the large ABS plug and give it a squirt with WD 40. The poor plug contacts cause the same symptoms. Mine would do exactly the same until I got the WD 40 on it. If its still doing it after then you haven't lost anything.

Try using switch cleaner as it will not leave residue and will clean the contacts better as well (get it from maplins)
