Default Now why does this not surprise me?

We all know about the road-pricing that was/ was not going to happen.
So now they have decided 'lets go with it'.

Absolutely crazy, for our pockets, pollution, car choice, drivers, commuters, in fact everyone and everything - except a very few people.

One thing that doesn't seem to be addressed at all, is that in order for it to have a hope of working, the tax on fuel would have to be abolished.

This means that the price of fuel no longer contributes the most to the total cost of any particular journey. This means that mileage take over as the most cost sensitive factor. This means that people will (and I know they will) drive bigger cars, with bigger engines, emitting more pollution - as they will not be penalised for it and there will no longer be an incentive for driving more fuel economic cars.

This assumes that this disgrace of a 'Government' doesn't dream up new ways to tax us.

IMO, this one policy alone would be an election loser.

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE GORDON ! and good night.

I cannot see how they can bring in tolls on our motorways/roads in the UK, unlike most other EU countries they have nothing to offer in return for paying the tolls, unless they mean us to pay for all the congestion and traffic jams we experience on them. Just not practical here.

As most on here are aware, the toll roads in france are superb and almost traffic free, they are a pleasure to use, and is why I dont mind paying the charges, same with most other EU countries, though some of the Italian toll motorways can also get quite hectic at busy times of the day.

Do these people who make these decisions ever get to drive on the M6,M42,M25 at busy periods.. I think not.

They are running out of idea's on how they can raise more money from us.

Have you been abroad for a few years then Karl? It WENT to the dogs years ago, funnily enough, not that long after the current Government came to power

" and will involve fitting a satellite-tracking device to the vehicles "

Does this mean there is no more need for speed cameras?
