Sorry guys to inflict you with this... time for another dear Deirdre letter...LOL
As mentioned previously, I decided to get myself another PS3, as I gave my last 40gb one to one of the grandchildren earlier in the year, always buying stuff I dont really need. ;-)
Anyway I decided to get another so I can join in a few games that my 2 sons occasionally play online together, and maybe start to collect a few Blueray films. Also help to occupy the grandkids when they come and stay with us. Sony have recently released their 160gb version (on 31st Oct) but its been in short supply but managed to order one last night from John Lewis online stores, at the moment they are rarer than integrity in our government. Its been dispatched and will receive it tomorrow , so today I've spent about £140 buying a few games off Ebay and Play.com including a bluetooth headset, wireless keyboard, and a second controller, I've got a couple of the games on the PC already... so a bit daft really.
I think one of my problems is... I've never really grown up! As kids we were never really given a lot, my late father never earned any decent money in his life, and what he did earn went on the ciggies and beer..lol
(sorry dad) Being born during WW2,times didn't get better until in the fifties, as some may know sugar rationing did'nt end until 1952 and sweets were almost non-existant until 1953 when they ceased rationing on those too, clothes were mainly hand me downs or from jumble sales, so I tend to have negative memories from my childhood days. A few oranges/apples, and a box of dates and that was your lot at xmas..lol
All say....ahhhhhhh shame.
Through hard work and a couple of gambles which were benificial we have accrued a little comfort in old age, and as a result we enjoy ourselves, and of course I keep buying my little toys. I'm like a young kid who has never grown up, because at heart I dont think men really do grow up.
If your Dad is still alive, which I hope he is, is your Dad a bit like this too, buying stuff he never needs, only to give it away or sell off later at a big loss. Over the last few years I've had a go at building a Westfield kit car, many motorcycles, radio control boats and several model planes, even took proper flying lessons years ago, but like James May my licence did not allow me to fly at night, its well expired now anyway, took up golf for a short time... lol and the list goes on... am I mad or just a sad old git.?
trying to make the best of the time left...LOL
How many of you will buy something for your childen at xmas not because they want it, but because you fancy playing with it yourself... come on own up!
